چکیده

Our world is facing major problems relating to food production. According to an August 30, 2015 program of LANDLINE (Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Australia),we lose 120,000,000 hectares of agricultural land per year due to population growth, associated urbanisation, and desertification.

Bacterial Molecular Signals in the Sinorhizobium fredii-Soybean Symbiosis.

Sinorhizobium (Ensifer) fredii (S. fredii) is a rhizobial species exhibiting a remarkably broad nodulation host-range. Thus, S. fredii is able to effectively nodulate dozens of different legumes, including plants forming determinate nodules, such as the important crops soybean and cowpea, and plants forming indeterminate nodules, such as Glycyrrhiza uralensis and pigeon-pea. This capacity of ad...

Virtual soybean—a computational model for studying autoregulation of nodulation

Introduction Nitrogen fixation by legumes is the product of a symbiosis of legume plants and a group of bacteria known as rhizobia (Carroll, et al., 1985; Kinkema, et al., 2006). It has been hypothesised that when rhizobia receive flavonoid signals from the host plants, production of a chemical nodulation factor is induced. The perception of nodulation factor by legume roots then activates a si...

Discovery and expression analysis of nodulation genes in soybean

Abstract: Soybean develop new root organs that become nitrogen-fixing nodules in response to signals from rhizobacteria and then use complex systemic signalling to control cell proliferation. Recent application of functional genomics resulted in the characterization of genes encoding Leucine rich repeat (LRR) receptor kinases controlling these early nodulation steps. With short and long distanc...

Nodule Inception creates a long-distance negative feedback loop involved in homeostatic regulation of nodule organ production.

Autoregulatory negative-feedback loops play important roles in fine-balancing tissue and organ development. Such loops are composed of short-range intercellular signaling pathways via cell-cell communications. On the other hand, leguminous plants use a long-distance negative-feedback system involving root-shoot communication to control the number of root nodules, root lateral organs that harbor...

Lipo-chitooligosaccharide signaling in endosymbiotic plant-microbe interactions.

The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and the rhizobia-legume (RL) root endosymbioses are established as a result of signal exchange in which there is mutual recognition of diffusible signals produced by plant and microbial partners. It was discovered 20 years ago that the key symbiotic signals produced by rhizobial bacteria are lipo-chitooligosaccharides (LCO), called Nod factors. These LCO are perc...
